Old Church
Galeelakunnu St Mary's Jacobite Syrian Church, Ooramana is located in Ernakulam District of Kerala State of Republic of India.The Church belongs to the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church under the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East. In India it is in Kadanadu diocese of Malankara Archdiocese of Universal Syriac Orthodox Church (Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Church).Vicar of Church is Rev. Fr. Elias Karottumangalum.
Presently, the church has 250 member families. Unfortunately, the church got closed in 1977 as a result of the dispute originated between the Orthodox and Jacobite factions. Inspite of repeated attempts to reopen the church, still it remains closed. Now, it is in a totally demolished condition where there is no form of renovation is possible. People were not able to attend the Mass and perform religious ceremonies in those days. In those circumstances, Jacobite believers assembled , and constructed a church
